Don't Buy Into These "Trends" Concerning Item Upgrading

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A  boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be available at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using the Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance an Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may increase in price even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll  item upgrade s. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of extra bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants an increase in power if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be very useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrader for items lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, armor trinkets, and armor) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each each time you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting back to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like crit chance, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item could have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. However, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost listed above.
